Keeping everybody safe
Merri-bek Family Doctors has a COVID-safe plan to keep all our patients and staff safe during the pandemic and recovery. Many of our consultations are conducted by phone or video link, so that we can maintain social distancing in our waiting areas for those who do attend in person.
When attending the clinic, it is no longer compulsory to wear a face mask, but it is still advisable to do so in all health settings.
All patients will be asked by our reception staff about the presence of symptoms that could be caused by COVID-19.
What do I do if I have respiratory symptoms?
If you have any symptoms such as: fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, or vomiting, you should:
- perform a COVID-19 RAT test at home and
- minimise your contact with the public until the symptoms resolve.
- If you require a doctor’s appointment, where possible this should be via telephone or video link.
All patients attending the clinic will be asked about the presence of these symptoms. If you answer ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, whether or not this is the reason for your presentation, you will be asked to wait outside the building or in your car until you have spoken to a doctor by phone. This applies even when you have had a recent negative COVID test. It is then up to the doctor, having assessed your symptoms, to decide how to further manage your care.
