Dr Lisa Soares

Dr Lisa Soares – Clinical Psychologist

With more than 20 years of experience across public mental health and private practice, Dr Lisa Soares is an endorsed Clinical Psychologist recognised for her expertise in helping people navigate life’s challenges and create meaningful, lasting change.

Lisa works with adults aged 16 years and over experiencing a broad range of mental health, emotional, interpersonal, and personal challenges, including both common and complex mental health difficulties. She supports people who may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, self-critical, disconnected, or struggling with difficult thoughts, emotions, relationships, or life circumstances. Through a warm, collaborative, and evidence-based approach, Lisa helps clients better understand what may be contributing to their difficulties, develop practical skills to navigate challenges more effectively, improve wellbeing, and create meaningful and lasting change.

Her approach combines warmth, compassion, and evidence-based practice. Drawing on contemporary behavioural psychology, Lisa helps people develop greater self-understanding, overcome patterns that may no longer be serving them, and engage more fully in the relationships, activities, and goals that matter most. Therapy is tailored to each person’s unique needs, strengths, and circumstances and is designed to support lasting improvements in wellbeing and quality of life.

Alongside private practice, Lisa holds a senior leadership role within public mental health at Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she leads the internationally recognised ACTivating Recovery Program. She is also an experienced clinical supervisor, trainer, and educator, providing supervision, consultation, and training to psychologists and other health professionals across a range of settings. Lisa has held leadership positions within the Australian and New Zealand Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ANZ ACBS) and remains actively involved in advancing evidence-based psychological practice.
